Robotic-Assisted Surgery

Essentially, it is laparoscopic surgery with robotic assistance. The addition of the robot adds increased magnification, 3-D vision, increased flexibility of movement, and scaling of movements. This translates into increased precision and makes technically challenging cases easier.

Our physicians perform robotic surgery to treat many conditions, including:

  • Prostate cancer
  • Kidney cancer
  • Bladder cancer
  • Benign prostatic obstruction
  • Ureteral reconstruction
  • Ureteropelvic junction obstruction (kidney obstruction)
  • Testicular cancer (lymph node dissection)
  • Adrenal masses
  • Bladder diverticula
  • Fistulas
  • Lymph node dissection

People who have robotic urologic surgery often have less trauma, reduced blood loss, reduced risk of complications, shorter hospital stays and a quicker recovery when compared with traditional open surgery.
